Two accounts. One fund. Three steps. Save the PDF so you have it when you sit down to do it.

The 3 steps

  1. Open two accounts at Fidelity. A brokerage account and a Roth IRA. Have your Social Security number and bank login ready.
  2. Move $50 into each. Transfer from your bank. The money may take a day or two to land.
  3. Buy VTI in each account. Search VTI, switch the order from Shares to Dollars, enter 50, place the buy.

Educational content only. General information, not individualized investment, tax, or legal advice. VTI is named as one example of a total US stock market index fund, not a recommendation to buy any particular security. All investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal. Contribution and income limits are set by the IRS and change annually. Confirm current figures at irs.gov.
